Astana. April 19. Kazakhstan Today - Today President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held the second meeting of the Supreme Board of Trustees of Nazarbayev University, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and Nazarbayev Fund, Kazakhstan Today reports.
During the meeting, Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan's development in the twenty-first century will be directly related to the level of education, the Presidential press service informed.
"Our university gained high credibility in a short time. Today, the university is on a par with the leading universities of the world. We will prepare professionals that meet international standards. I believe that it is important for us to be ready for the world's economic, scientific and educational competition," the head of state said.
He stressed that the adoption of the documents presented at the meeting of the University brings effective management structure that meets international standards. "From now the main academic and executive functions are combined into a single body. Rector, Academic and Scientific Council will actively participate in the activities of the university, not only the academic direction. Advisory and consultative academic and scientific councils become independent bodies," he said.
According to the press service, N. Nazarbayev emphasized that one of the urgent tasks of the University is the creation of an innovation cluster.
"It is designed to meet the needs of the economy, solving the problem of intellectual innovation. I instructthe University to step up efforts to attract major national and international companies to the formation of the cluster. Samruk-Kazyna fund must become a pioneer in placing there their research units. Government should provide funds for the innovation cluster infrastructure. I instruct the University to create a supervisory board to ensure the control and transparency of the cluster. The I propose to include to the board representatives of business along with the industrial sector. It is necessary to declare the area of the clustera special area, to transfer the land, where it will be constructed, to the University," said President of Kazakhstan.
