Kazakhstan delegation to visit Damascus

Kazakhstan delegation, which includes akim of Otrarsk area, director of Otrarsk museum named after al-Farabi, president of Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi and others, will pay a week-long visit to Damascus (Syria) under the program of “Cultural heritage”. The head of delegation, Kazakhstan Supreme mufti Absattar hajji Derbisali said on Monday during a meeting with journalists.

A. Derbisali has noted that members of the delegation intend to lay the ground from scientist’s native city - Otrar to his resting place in Damascus. "Our people have this good tradition, the Supreme mufti told.

Besides, a meeting with the Minister of Education and the head of Damask University is planned in the course of the trip, to try to find works of al-Farabi and other scientists, A. Derbisali noted.

The delegation is leaving for Syria tonight. The Supreme mufti has informed, that the trip is organized with the help of sponsors.
