Almaty. May 1. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan has completed the investigation into the case on taking bribery by the senior generals of the Ministry of Defense Kazakhstan from the Ukrspecexport employees - Ukrainian intermediary in the export of products and services for military purposes, Kazakhstan Today reports.
"The case will be considered in a specialized inter-district court of Astana. There are not many official comments, but according to sources, the persons involved were in an unenviable position. They can be accused in the last year's crash of the An-72 with the leadership of frontier service of Kazakhstan. Shortly before the tragedy the aircraft underwent repairs at the Ukrainian design-engineering department Antonov," Lenta.ru reports.
The report notes that the detention of the two employees, of Ukrspecexport at the international airport of Astana became known in late January. Kazakh investigators have documented that the Ukrainians gave money to a certain high-ranking general, and then were going to fly home. The names of the detainees were not disclosed, the representatives of Ukrspecexport confirm the detention of their employees, yet also refused to give their names.
As Lenta.ru reported, "journalists quickly found out that the case participants are the first chief of the regional department Ukrspecexport Alexander Shkolyarenko and his deputy Alexander Khrulev. As reported in Mirror of the Week edition, they handed to Kazakh officials a "gratitude" for their assistance in the implementation of certain contracts. According to initial information obtained by ZN.UA from different sources, the amount of "gratitude" was $ 1.5 million, but the Kazakh side has named a much more modest figure of $200 million."
