Almaty. February 18. Kazakhstan Today - Construction of the first in China park that will be used in case of an earthquake will be opened for general public in the first half of 2010 in Nanking - an administrative centre of Jiangsu Province (East China), the agency reports citing Xinhua.

According to the engineer of the city Seismological Department, the park can also be used as an excursion object and a vacation spot of townspeople, but in case of an earthquake or other natural disaster it will be able to provide residence for 6600 people within one month.

There will be medical aid stations, houses, potable water sources, toilets, food stocks, independent energy station, and the equipment for recycling of household waste.

Total capital investments in construction of the park totaled 3 million yuans (about $440 thousand).

The park is in the west of the city and occupies the territory of 16 hectares.
