Kazakhstan, Germany to increase goods turnover up to $10 billion

Astana. July 19. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, at the press conference, following the results of the bilateral meetings with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, informed that Kazakhstan and Germany intend to increase in the near future their goods turnover up to $10 billion, the agency reports.
"During the visit of German Chancellor to Kazakhstan, the officials signed eight intergovernmental agreements and 35 business agreements for a total sum of more than 2 billion euro. Our objective is to increase goods turnover up to $10 billion," N. Nazarbayev said. According to the president's press service, the volume of the Kazakhstan-German goods turnover, following the results of the last year, has exceeded $2.9 billion and, in the first half of 2010, amounted to $1.5 billion. The following documents have been signed during the meeting of German Chancellor and the President of Kazakhstan: the action partnership program between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Reactor Safety in the field of preservation of the environment; the joint statement on intentions between the Kazakhstan governments and Germany on continuation of cooperation in the field of improvement of professional skills of the managerial personnel and an administrative reserve in the economic sphere; the memorandum of creation of the Kazakhstan-German Business Council for strategic cooperation; the memorandum of mutual cooperation between National Company Kazakhstan temir zholy JSC and Siemens; the memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies and METRO LLP.
